Y’all. I’m so sensitive that I can make myself physically sick if I get super stressed. Which is fun for me, because I’m the only human having my experience on planet earth, and one of the first things that I experience is nausea. Which…Is one of the reasons I have to take incredible care of my human body and try and keep her regulated through – gestures vaguely.
Fed is best. Is what I always tell myself. But in video form that can be really challenging to explain. Right? When your body is experiencing any kind of stressors, it becomes incredibly important that you feed yourself. WHATEVER YOU CAN EAT. to get you to the next moment. Okay? Like, NO GUILT. NO SHAME. No questions. Just. Feed your body. I say, as my stomach growls. I’m putting chicken tenders in the air fryer, okay?!
So. If you’re feeling this collapse in real time today – here is an incomplete list of considerations for you to help support your human body through the experience of a significant loss of community, friendships, creative expression:
EAT – whatever you can. Feed and fuel your body. Adopt my mantra, and if you can throw in a vegetable, please do. Overall, I try and ensure that I eat as close to nature as possible, but in times of increased stress it’s okay to let go of all of the food expectations and just get fuel into your body.
SLEEP – set up a bedtime routine, unplug from your phone, and create as much relaxation as you can. Tell your brain it’s time to relax, and spend an hour or so in bed doing something unrelated to gathering information. I like to color, personally. My night time routine looks like this: shower, brush/floss teeth, clean my CPAP, ground, disconnect the Bluetooth from my brain to my phone, and crawl into bed where I spend some time reflecting on my day and coloring. I sleep with my phone across the room so I’m not tempted to look at it through the night.
EXERCISE – especially if you can get outside in the fresh air. Being close to nature is a (HAH!) natural co-regulation technique. And just so y’all know this is a crazy train and it will not be stopping at any “normal” stations – some of my best friends are trees. And nature was my family when I didn’t have a healthy one in childhood. But however you can. MOVE YOUR BODY. If it shakes your hips, even better! Our experiences are stored in our bodies and we have to support their experience of time space through movement.
GROUND – which actually can be done through the exercise portion of this if you’re outside. But every morning I spend 5 minutes on my yoga mat, grounding to prepare for the day.
You’d be surprised at how much my spiritual healing journey was supported through these 4 things. I survived the collapse of EVERYTHING in my world by simply learning how to hold my human body in love, and caring for her like she was the light of my life. Anyway, love and light to you all! Take Care! Bye!
