The Day Before a Good Day

Y’all. Good days don’t just happen all the time. From my experience, they have to be set up like dominos. And I’m going to tell you how I went from having mostly bad days to having a lot of really wonderful days.

First of all. Sleep. Hahaha.

But, that’s not inherent. What gets you a good night’s sleep? For me I had chronic obstructive sleep apnea. So. I had to get myself a fancy CPAP whom I call Poppy. Because she’s my emotional sleep helper.

But for me a good night’s sleep starts with my self-care routine: caring for my human body through a shower, caring for my teeth, grounding, journaling, and putting my phone down (on the other side of the room so I’m not tempted to look at it in the night) an hour before I go to sleep. And disconnecting from my phone mentally so I can transition from being awake to being asleep.

I’m not perfect at it, but it’s flexible because it’s a routine. Right?

And then I put myself to bed through thanking each body part that supported me. Starting with my feet. I say “Thank you feet for helping me get around today, is there anything that you need for me to know about today or is there anything that I can do to better care for you tomorrow.”

I scan through my entire body and thank it for its support, and I say goodnight to each part of me and tell it that it’s time to rest.

And then I call on my protection: For the good of all and the harm to none I call on my highest protection for my sleep and dream state that I might wake refreshed tomorrow for a good day.

But I also throughout my day do little things that I would appreciate so that I’m set up for success and wake up excited to start the new day.

This morning I’d had a weird dream about my mother and Disneyland, so I said out loud “I’m not sure what that meant of if I was supposed to learn something from it – but please show me today what that was about, and if I’m supposed to let it go, help me to do that so I don’t bring it into my good day.”

And then I went through my morning routine: lymphatic massage, fascia check in, and visualization for a good day. Somatic movement, rebounding & grounding.

I also tell myself the truth about my calling: Anami Grace. You came to this planet to be chronically misunderstood so you would become good at explaining things to people. You’re going to change the world today, by simply being yourself and using the tools of language and love to create safe spaces for people to help themselves grow.

A good day for me starts with me deciding it’s going to be a good day. Telling myself it’s going to be a good day, and then moving through my life like it’s going to be a good day.

And then, I go and put on my favorite music and dance by the river. When the sun is out I ask for his help and connection to my soul so that we can work together to help other people catch our magic.

Listen. Y’all I’m solar powered. The sun and I love each other. He loves to shine for me, and I shine right back for him.

I then look for opportunities to help my future self throughout the day. Yesterday I made enough of my vegan tofu tomato egg so I’d have leftovers to enjoy this morning. But, I put a load of laundry in the washer, and made sure that there was love in there for me to find later.

But because I didn’t have to worry about breakfast this morning I was able to make 3 videos before lunch time and indulge my need to create something wonderful that will hopefully reach past the noise this morning. Right?

And then. I moved my body more by taking myself on a hike. I thanked the trees for helping me spread love in our community, and I danced in the sun some more. Grinning the entire way home because I’d found all of the endorphins I could.

Tonight, when I cook dinner I’m going to cook enough to have leftovers for breakfast again tomorrow, because food and flavor is my language of love to myself. But if I could teach you one thing – and hopefully you learn many from me – it would be that you can pay your good days forward for yourself by doing the little things that you’d find helpful to set your future self up for success.

So tonight. Before you put yourself to bed. I invite you to take a little inventory of your life and find out what you can do to help yourself – and do it. And see how it pays off for you!

Even if that’s simply putting your phone down an hour early tonight and getting a wonderful night’s sleep. Right?

Anyway. Love and light to you all. Take care. Bye!
